6 March 2010 - The Singapore 2010 Odyssey was officially launched by Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister for Information,
Communications and the Arts, amid the rousing rhythms of percussion band Sambateria.
Lyo and Merly, the lovable mascots for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, broke out into a series of funky dance moves,
much to the delight of the audience.
The entertainment did not stop here!
Rounding out the visual spectacle were JC Sum and Magic Babe Ning with their magical act, Hip-hop dance routines by Styles
From Beyond and Emerged, B-Boy Breakdancing by Luming, a yoyo-tricks display by Spinworkx, before the crowd was wowed by
Jey's Michael Jackson Impersonation. But it was undoubtedly the cosplayers who attracted the largest snap-happy crowd
with their elaborate wigs, makeup and costumes.
The Singapore 2010 Odyssey launch was truly a feast for the ears as well, with lively musical sets by a host of talented home-grown
performers such as Ngak and Clement, 53A, Rockstar Lullaby and Reverie, who provided lively musical accompaniment to visitors as
they tried their hand at various virtual sports in the Singapore 2010 Odyssey throughout the day.
To top it off, everyone who completed a simple quest card by trying out all various games in the virtual world were entered in
an on-the-spot lucky dip, and treated to piping hot popcorn, candy floss and cans of ice-cold Coca Cola, absolutely free!
